Extensive Range of Treatments

Our wide range of treatments includes the following:

  • Rising damp – If the damp proof course (DPC) of a building is compromised, moisture will rise up from the ground and creep up masonry and brickwork. Older London properties are more likely to have DPC issues, which can be caused by ground subsidence or simple wear and tear on bitumen-based DPC that deteriorates over many decades. We can inject a DPC foam into cavity walls to provide an impenetrable barrier that stops damp in its tracks.
  • Condensation – There are a number of causes of condensation; when warm air meets cold air, droplets of water can form on hard surfaces like windows and walls. Human behaviour is another cause of condensation; drying damp clothing indoors makes the air moist, while running a hot bath is another cause of excessive moisture, as is cooking without using the canopy extractor. Lack of ventilation increases the chance of condensation forming on interior surfaces and that can lead to mould.
  • Penetrating damp – Damp that enters a building via the roof or external walls is known as penetrating damp, which is a common problem in London homes. A leaking roof is a common cause of damp entering a building and when we survey a London property for damp, we carry out a thorough inspection of the roof, looking for any signs of leaks. Exterior walls should be closely inspected, looking for moss growth and other signs of moisture presence.
  • Woodworm – There are two species of woodworm; namely the Common Furniture Beetle and the Death Watch Beetle, both of which are very destructive and thrive in damp and humid environments. We are woodworm specialists and can inspect a property and accurately assess whether woodworm is present, then make the best treatment recommendations.
  • Basement tanking & waterproofing – There are two main methods to waterproof below-ground living space; basement tanking, which involves the removal of damp plaster, preparing the substrate and applying a waterproof render. The other method is to install a cavity drainage system; fitting a studded membrane to walls, ceilings and floors to create a space for water to be drained to a sump area where it is then pumped to drainage points. We have been basement waterproofing in London for many years and once we have surveyed a basement, we can make recommendations, quote a price and we issue a full 30-year warranty on all our work.
  • Wet and dry rot treatment – Wet and dry rot are a very real threat to London buildings and both thrive in damp and humid conditions. Treatment depends on the type of rot and when we carry out wet or dry rot treatment, we issue a full 30-year guarantee on our work.
  • Three levels of damp surveys – At London Damp Specialists, we offer 3 levels of damp survey; level 1 involves a thorough inspection of walls, floors and ceilings, looking for signs of damp and mould, while level 2 includes level 1, plus a detailed inspection of the roof and attic and all timber sections. Level 3 includes everything in levels 1 & 2, along with drone imagery, borescope camera and humidity testing, as well as ventilation flow testing.

Our damp-proofing teams in London are fully qualified and very experienced; there is nothing that they have not had to deal with when it comes to damp, mould and timber rot. They are so confident in their workmanship that they issue an unconditional 30-year guarantee on all damp-proofing work; if, for any reason, an area that they have treated has further issues, they will carry out repairs at no cost to the customer.

Competitive Pricing & Tidy Work

We believe we offer very competitive and transparent pricing and we are customer-focused, always ensuring that the property is clean and tidy when the work is completed. Damp-proofing work involves the removal of plaster and timber, then substrates must be correctly prepared before damp-proofing work can be carried out. Our 5-Step Process

London Damp Specialists incorporates a 5-step process when working on London properties, which is as follows.

1

First consultation

You can tell us about your damp issue via the phone or our online survey booking form, which is an ideal opportunity for you to ask questions and gather information.

2

Site inspection

We send a PCA-certified damp surveyor to your home, where the professional can carry out a detailed inspection. This enables us to source the cause of the damp issues, take measurement and record observations.

3

No obligation price quote

Once the inspection is completed, we then send you a detailed quote, with no hidden extras and this quote is free from obligation. If you have any queries, we are always happy to answer them. We also send you a detailed report, complete with images.

4

Commencement of work

Once an agreement has been reached, our damp-proofing team carry out the work according to the agreed timeline and to our high standards, with minimum inconvenience to you.

5

Payment upon completion

The final step in the process; once the work is completed and your home is dry and you are happy with the results, payment is made.

If you would like a quote for damp-proofing work and a comprehensive report on the status of your home, call us on 020 8242 9391  or fill in the form at the bottom of this page and we will be happy to oblige.

Lab Analysis Of Plaster

Laboratory analysis Of plaster identifies hygroscopic salts such as chlorides and nitrates. which indicate whether damp is caused by rising groundwater or by plumbing leaks, This testing removes guesswork, allowing the exact source of moisture to be identified so the correct treatment is applied rather than carrying out unnecessary damp-proofing work.

Mould Lab Swab Testing, qPCR on DNA

qPCR DNA mould testing detects microscopic mould spores that are invisible during a normal inspection and van remain hidden behind walls, floors. or inside building rkaterials. It identifies the exact mould species present and the contamination level, allowing hidden mould problems to be confirrned and properly treated before they affect the property or occupants’ health.

Qualifications: All our surveyors are PCA and CSRT qualified for remedial treatments and also CSSW qualified for structural waterproofing.
Next day report: You will receive the report within 24 hours of the inspection taking place.

The survey fee will be deducted from the cost of any recommended repairs.

These are the tools we use

Damp Meter

Damp Meter

A damp meter is a diagnostic tool used to detect and measure moisture levels within building materials such as plaster, brick, timber, and concrete.

Borescope camera

Borescope camera

borescope camera is a small inspection camera attached to a flexible semi-rigid cable that allows you to see inside areas that are otherwise inaccessible.

Drone Inspection

Drone Inspection

A drone is a remotely operated aerial device equipped with a camera that allows visual inspection from above without the need for scaffolding or ladder.

Air Humidity Sensor

Air Humidity Sensor

Air humidity sensor measures the amount of moisture present in the air, expressed as relative humidity (RH) in percentage. It helps determine whether indoor conditions are contributing to condensation, mould growth, or damp-related issues.

Thermal Imaging Camera

Thermal Imaging Camera

A thermal imaging camera detects temperature differences on surfaces by using infrared technology to produce a heat map image. In damp investigations, it helps identify cold spots, moisture intrusion, insulation defects, thermal bridging and leaks.

Air Flow Ventilation Detector

Air Flow Ventilation Detector

An air flow ventilation detector measures the movement and volume of air passing through vents, extractor fans, and air bricks. It confirms whether ventilation systems are working properly and achieving adequate air changes within a room. Poor airflow leads to trapped moisture, high humidity, condensation on cold surfaces, and ultimately mould growth.

Mould Lab Swab Testing

Mould Lab Swab Testing

A mould swab test is carried out to confirm the presence of hidden mould growth and identify the specific species involved. Surface mould is not always visible, especially behind furniture, inside cavities, or within ventilation systems. Laboratory analysis of a swab sample determines whether active mould spores are present and what type they are, which helps assess potential health risks and decide the correct remediation approach rather than relying on visual assumption alone.

Lab Analysis of Plaster

Lab Analysis of Plaster

Laboratory analysis of plaster is used to identify the type of salts present within the material, typically chlorides and nitrates. The presence and concentration of these salts help determine whether the moisture source is consistent with rising damp, ground contamination, or another forms [sic] of water ingress. such as mains water leak, This removes guesswork and prevents misdiagnosis, ensuring the correct remedial treatment is specified rather than applying unnecessary or ineffective solutions.
